Ohana equips young learners with a vision for excellence.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is a process for learning life skills. These skills include how to relate to one’s own needs, to others, and to the larger world. SEL offers students opportunities for learning how to manage feelings. Ohana believes that learning positive coping techniques empowers students to solve problems and relate in healthy ways to the world outside themselves. SEL includes facilitating ways to develop sympathy and empathy for others and to maintain positive relationships. SEL also focuses on learning how to relate to work situations in an ethical and constructive manner. Ohana believes in helping students find the tools to reach their fullest potential.
A student’s feelings of self-worth, self-awareness, and self-respect will contribute to the larger Ohana Community. The foundation of positive feelings promotes academic and personal success. Ohana’s non-traditional environment encourages growth in effective social interaction, greater self-awareness and stronger recognition of the importance of positive attitude towards self and others. Self-awareness can enable students to control their impulses, overcome obstacles through goal-direction and determination and build an appreciation of the importance of respecting one’s self and other people.
