Yes, after submitting and application with the $250 application fee, students are paired with a peer to spend a day at Ohana.
An application must be filled out and turned in with all of its required documents. There is a portion of the application for parents and for prospective students. After we have received all of the documents, an interview with your child along and an entrance exam will be scheduled and administered.
Yes, we do have partners who provide a limited number of scholarships in exchange for volunteer service for families in need who qualify.
Prior to 7th grade, all students take a standardized pre-test and post-test to begin and end each year. These assessments are used in-house only and allow staff to measure the progress of each student. New for the 2015-2016 school year, all students 7th-11th grades will take the PSAT to be used for pre-testing analysis. They will complete the year with an online PSAT exam to measure student progress. The scores for high school juniors are submitted for qualification to the National Merit Scholarship program. Additionally, all freshman and sophomores will be provided the opportunity to take the ACT Aspire Exam as preparation for the ACT.
Ohana Institute follows a modified calendar. We take extended breaks throughout the school year with a six-week summer break. Our school year starts the first week in August and ends in the middle of June.
We do not have organized sports but many of our students play on sports teams with Emerald Coast Middle School or South Walton High School. All of our core courses are approved by the NCAA.
